IPSASB Announces New and Returning Board Members for 2027

The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB), developer of reporting standards for the public sector, today announced new and returning members of the Board. The IPSASB continues to reflect the broad geographic representation, gender balance, and professional expertise needed for a global standard setting Board.  

Appointments follow a rigorous nomination and interview process operated by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Nominating Committee, which is overseen by the Public Interest Committee, with final IPSASB member approvals by the IFAC Board. The following individuals have been appointed to the IPSASB beginning January 1, 2027: 

  • Francesco Capalbo (Italy); 
  • Georgina Muchai (Kenya); and 
  • Heather Taylor (Canada). 

Two current members have been reappointed: 

  • Angela Ryan (New Zealand); and 
  • Yacouba Traore (Burkina Faso). 

Thomas Müller-Marqués Berger, IPSASB Chair, said: “Bringing together strong public sector expertise and perspectives from different jurisdictions is fundamental to the IPSASB’s work. I look forward to welcoming Francesco, Georgina, and Heather to the Board and continuing to benefit from Angela’s and Yacouba’s experience. Their contributions will support the IPSASB as we respond to evolving public sector reporting needs and strengthen our focus on supporting the implementation of our standards around the world.”

The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) works to strengthen public financial management globally through developing and maintaining accrual-based International Public Sector Accounting Standards® (IPSAS®) and other high-quality financial reporting guidance and sustainability reporting standards for use by governments and other public sector entities. It also raises awareness of IPSAS and the benefits of accrual adoption. The Board receives support from the Asian Development Bank, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, the New Zealand External Reporting Board, the government of Canada, and the World Bank. About the Public Interest Committee  

The governance and standard-setting activities of the IPSASB are overseen by the Public Interest Committee (PIC), to ensure that they follow due process and reflect the public interest. The PIC is comprised of individuals with expertise in public sector or financial reporting, and professional engagement in organizations that have an interest in promoting high-quality and internationally comparable financial information.
