Next Strategy

The IPSASB reflected on the evolution of its Strategy, as it rebalances activities and related resources to more actively support stakeholders with implementation of IPSASB Standards. The IPSASB decided to begin updating the organization’s strategy and consult with stakeholders to obtain input and feedback on the proposals. Next quarter, the IPSASB will consider a draft of the consultation.

Project Overview

Objective

This objective of this project is to develop the IPSASB’s next Strategy.

Why the IPSASB Undertook this Project

In October 2024, the IPSASB issued its 2024-2028 Strategy and Work Program. Since then, the IPSASB has experienced a natural evolution in response to evolving needs of public sector stakeholders, introducing new initiatives to answer the call to better support the implementation of IPSASB Standards and reframing its measure of success as a standard setter to include not only the development of high quality Standards but also supporting their consistent understanding and application.

This project gives the opportunity to clearly communicate how the IPSASB intends to support public sector entities in achieving their objectives in a time when many governments and other public sector entities face growing volatility, uncertainty, and competing challenges. These growing challenges mean it is more important than ever that governments have the high-quality information gained by effectively implementing IPSASB Standards, to use that information to support better decisions, leading to effective public financial management and better outcomes overall in the managing of public resources.

Consultation

The IPSASB intends to publish its proposed strategy for consultation in early 2027 to gather stakeholder feedback.
